School Your Community – El Bethel FACT
This month, members of the El Bethel FACT group participated in the School Your Community FACTivism. Members presented to their community at the African American Holocaust Museum. This presentation included participating in chants with youth in attendance.
The School Your Community FACTivism focuses on presenting to and educating local communities. This can include information about what their FACT group is up to and what they stand for. Over the years other groups have used this opportunity to educate community members about tobacco products, and the harmful effects they have on teens. Groups like FACT play a crucial role in educating community decision-makers about the significant dangers associated with teen tobacco and vape use. By engaging decision-makers, these groups advocate for policies and initiatives that can target youth tobacco use. Their efforts are pivotal in shaping informed policies that protect young people from the harmful effects of nicotine and promote a culture of wellness and prevention.
The FACT movement is a youth-driven movement of Wisconsin youth spreading the truth about tobacco, including vapes. FACT aims to prevent and stop youth tobacco use through education. It is funded by the Commercial Tobacco Prevention & Treatment Program, organized by local tobacco alliances, and managed by the American Lung Association.
